Dan is a “stateside” missionary for World Outreach of the EPC (See blog post of April 17 for details). Prior to answering this calling, he was with Overseas Council. Before OC, Dan owned two companies in the Houston, Texas area. One of his businesses was Genesis Graphic Design, a marketing and design firm started in 1991. The other part-time business, Lone Star Closets, was a closet remodeling company started in 2001. Before going into business on his own, Dan worked in several industries including Oil & Gas, Corrosion Engineering, and Civil Engineering. He also taught drafting on the high school and college levels.
Dan’s varied education in engineering, geology, marketing, and teaching was obtained from the Southern Institute of Technology, The University of Houston and Texas A&M. He is convinced that every Christian leader is never fully trained and is currently working on various certificates in Theology and Religion.
His passion is teaching and speaking. He taught a CBS Bible Study in prison ministry for over 12 years prior to coming to OC. He also has taught Sunday school at grade school level, high school level and is currently teaching Systematic Theology in an adult class. His favorite topics to teach include Theology, Apologetics, church history, the Book of Genesis and the Book of Romans. He is currently writing a book based on the life of Joseph (Genesis) and how his life can be an example for today’s man.
Dan is a lifetime committeeman of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. His hobbies include woodworking, furniture restoration and writing. He loves the outdoors and hikes the national parks whenever he can. He and his wife, Helen, have two adult children and three grandchildren.
